Steak open sandwiches

Ingredients: 
  • Beef sirloin, rib-eye or rump, are suitable for this recipe. Ciabatta is a type of crusty Italian bread.
  • 8 thin beef fillet steaks (800g)
  • 4 large egg tomatoes (360g), halved
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ cup (150g) mayonnaise
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 4 slices ciabatta
  • 1 tablespoon finely shredded fresh basil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

Preparation: 

Preparation time 15 minutes, cooking time 10 minutes.

1) Cook beef and tomato on heated oiled barbecue, uncovered, until beef is browned and cooked as desired. Drizzle tomato with oil, cook until tender.

2) Combine mayonnaise and garlic in small bowl.

3) Toast bread, spread with mayonnaise mixture. Top with beef and tomato, sprinkle with basil and vinegar. Serve with salad greens, if desired.
