Chinese marinated pork

Ingredients: 
  • 1kg piece pork neck
  • Marinade
  • 2 star anise, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 11/2 tablespoons honey
  • 11/2 tablespoons dry sherry
  • 2 teaspoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 2 green onions, chopped finely
  • Red food colouring

Preparation: 

Preparation time 15 minutes (plus marinating time). Cooking time 15 minutes.

1) Cut pork into quarter lengthways. Combine pork and marinade in large shallow dish. Cover, refrigerate 3 hours or overnight.

2) Drain pork, reserve marinade.

3) Cook pork on heated oiled barbecue, uncovered, until browned and cooked through, brushing with reserved marinade during cooking.

 

Marinade: Combine ingredients in small bowl.
