Sausage and caramelized onion hot dogs

Ingredients: 
  • 25g butter
  • 2 large brown onions (400g), sliced thinly
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon beef stock
  • 4 thin continental sausages
  • 4 hot dog buns
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) tomato sauce

Preparation: 

Preparation time 10 minutes, cooking time 20 minutes.

 

1) Melt butter in medium frying pan on barbecue, cook onion and garlic, stirring, until onion is soft and browned. Add, sugar, vinegar and stock, cook, stirring, until thick and syrupy.

2) Meanwhile, cook sausages on heated oiled barbecue until browned and cooked through.

3) Split each bum in half, fill with a sausage, caramelized onion and tomato sauce.
