CYCLING FOR A EURO

“CYCLING FOR A EURO” returns for second consecutive year, with the strategic cooperation between ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets and Charalambides Christis

At a press conference which was held on June 6th, ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets announced the return of Marina Theodorou's route “CYCLING FOR A EURO”, which forms a vital part of ALPHAMEGA's Corporate Social Responsibility program “CHILD, NUTRITION AND HEALTH”. The new edition of “CYCLING FOR A EURO” has been scheduled to start on Friday 17th of June and end on Monday 20th of June, allowing Marina Theodorou and her team to cycle across Cyprus for a good cause.

This initiative, which has been warmly embraced by the public, highlights the importance of regular exercise and promotes healthy eating habits while being grounded in values which are integral to the program “CHILD, NUTRITION AND HEALTH”, such as giving and contributing to society.

Aiming to repeat and exceed last year's success, “CYCLING FOR A EURO” carries out a mission with two goals, the first of which supports “CHILD, NUTRITION AND HEALTH”. In collaboration with Cyprus Nutrition and Dietetic Association, the initiative will provide children aged 9 and 12 with the opportunity to visit members of the Association and obtain a free, personalised nutrition plan, aiming to tackle child obesity. As part of the second goal, “CYCLING FOR A EURO” will provide financial aid to “Unique Smiles” - a Pancyprian Association which supports people with Rare Diseases.

This year, the public can contribute by purchasing a reflective armband from ALPHAMEGA Hypermarkets, between 8 – 30 of June,  as all proceeds will benefit the mission.

At the press conference, Natasa Constantinidou, Director of Communication and CSR of ALPHAMEGA and cyclist Marina Theodorou, who started the initiative, stated their goals for the coming event. In their addresses Ioannis Kyriakou, Trade Marketing Manager of Charalambides Christis hailed the initiative while Katia Kyriakou, Chairman of “Unique Smiles”, spoke to the audience about the Association’s work and aspirations and thanked ALPHAMEGA and Marina Theodorou for announcing their intention to support them.

Ending the presentation, Natasa Constantinidou thanked on behalf of ALPHAMEGA this year's sponsors, namely Unilever, ASTRA CAR RENTAL, ACS, Bean Bar and Holland and Barrett, and their collaborators Charalambides Christris, Landas Colour, and Cyprus Nutrition and Dietetic Association.
