Fifty-five tonnes of dry food for the tragedy-struck people of Lebanon

Alphamega Hypermarkets extend warm thanks to all those who participated in the campaign to send a large quantity of long-lasting dry food and other basic essentials, in order to cover the basic needs of those affected by the catastrophic explosion in Lebanon.

In total, about 55 tonnes of long-lasting dry food were sent as part of the campaign, in cooperation with the Commissioner of Volunteerism, Mr Yiannis Giannakis. Accompanying and supporting Alphamega Hypermarkets’ initiative were thousands of citizens as well as several companies and organised groups. Special thanks must be extended to the George & Thelma Paraskevaides Foundation, the Butterfly Foundation, Emilianides & Katsaros LLC Group, as well as to the customers of Alphamega Hypermarkets who supported the effort, either via the stores or via Foody.

In his statements, the CEO of Alphamega Hypermarkets, George Theodotou, stressed the company’s immediate response to the government’s plea to support our neighbouring country and highlighted its commitment to continue to provide help where the need arises. “From the first moment, we considered it our duty to contribute to the effort to deal with the aftermath of the deadly explosion that shook the neighbouring country. The response of the Cypriot society was extremely moving and hopeful. We warmly thank the citizens and businesses who joined forces with us in this beautiful act of humanity and solidarity. We are committed to continue helping those who need us”, he noted.
