• On this year’s CIO 100 Awards list for the technological upgrade strategy it implemented

Alphamega Hypermarkets achieved international recognition at this year’s CIO 100 Awards, which celebrate the 100 most technologically advanced companies in the world, alongside international giants such as Samsung, Deloitte Global, Accenture, Bank of America and Dell.

Alphamega Hypermarkets is the only Cypriot company to be included in this year’s list of winners. The company participated because of its Digital Upgrade Project, which was implemented both in its internal processes, as well as in its interaction with consumers. In particular, the company was awarded for digitising its internal processes, digitising two loyalty programmes through the Alphamega Loyalty App and Stick and Win App, installing Self Checkouts, Electronic Shelf Labels and Digital Screens in its stores, as well as for creating a new Business Intelligence Tool that now guides all its strategic decisions.

Explaining the importance of this recognition in the field of technological upgrade, the Executive Director of Alphamega Hypermarkets, George Theodotou, pointed out that innovation in technology has become a concept closely associated with Alphamega Hypermarkets. “The company’s innovative technological solutions, such as Self Checkouts and Mobile Apps, were embraced by Cypriot consumers and acknowledged by industry experts right from the start, as the company has been awarded by local agencies for digitally upgrading the shopping experience at its shops. The company’s new distinction, at an international level, pushes us to continue working with the same vigour and determination, always seeking the best possible result for both the development of the company and the improvement of the consumer experience”, he underlined.

Conditions permitting, after the final stage of lifting the restrictive measures, a delegation from the management of Alphamega Hypermarkets will attend the CIO 100 Symposium and Awards, which will be held at the Tarranea Resort in Los Angeles, next August. The event is considered a very important event internationally, as it brings together more than 300 Chief Information Officers (CIO) each year, who are looking for networking opportunities, but also to gain knowledge about this rapidly evolving industry, while more than 40 speakers from companies such as Google, Adobe and Deloitte share their thoughts on issues such as IT strategy and leadership.

About the CIO 100 awards

The annual CIO 100 Awards are organised by the tech media organisation IDG Communications, based in Massachusetts, which is internationally recognised as a pioneer. Through the event, 100 organisations / teams are celebrated each year for their use of innovative technological solutions to create business value and a competitive advantage, either by upgrading their internal processes or by improving relationships with customers. The award is a means of recognising operational excellence in the field of technology.

The selection of this year’s winners took place in three stages. Initially the companies completed an online application form describing an innovative IT and business initiative. A group of external judges then examined the applications in depth, looking for innovative IT practices and measurable results. Finally, the CIO 100 team reviewed the judge’s recommendations and selected the final 100 winners.
