Summer means cocktails on the veranda
It is the favourite meeting spot for the whole family every summer. It is the spot where we have all experienced unforgettable summer nights with good company, delicious food and refreshing cocktails. Considering the difficulties that the pandemic continues to create, with social distancing remaining a necessity, cocktail nights on the veranda are expected to be in the spotlight.
If you have not already taken care of your veranda, making the best of your free time during the lockdown, the first heatwave, which decided to “make an appearance” in the middle of May, requires it. Take out your tables, sunbeds, chaise longue, hammock, add a new pot, solar lights and highlight the best spots of your verandas.
After you are done with decorating, get ready for the most fun and even creative part of this endeavour; making your own, homemade cocktails. First of all, you need to do your research. There is a wealth of information on the internet for irresistible cocktails that you have not tried yet. You need to enhance your liquor collection with various drinks, so that there is nothing missing and get all the other accompanying materials, such as jiggers, shakers, bar spoons, ice cube trays, fresh fruit, etc.
If you love watermelon, you’ll be happy to find that you can now drink it in a cocktail. You will need two cups of finely chopped watermelon without seeds, a ripe mango peeled and chopped, the juice of two medium limes, one tablespoon powdered sugar, a tablespoon Cointreau, 70ml tequila and 2 cups of crushed ice. Pour all the ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth and… voila, your cocktail is ready!
Another cocktail which is reminiscent of summer, beach, and endless relaxation, is the “Bahamas Cocktail”, for which you will need 1/2 jigger black rum, 1/2 jigger white rum, 1/2 jigger coconut liqueur, 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur, 140ml pineapple juice, the juice of 1/2 lemon and maraschino cherry for garnish and crushed ice. Place all ingredients in a shaker with two ice cubes and shake well. Strain into a glass filled to the brim with crushed ice, garnish with a maraschino cherry and serve.
You can, of course, make your own unique combinations based on the ingredients you have at home or trust the “Make me a cocktail” application, where you can add the ingredients you have at your disposal and it will promptly give you a cocktail recipe with the specific ingredients.
