Easy battered cod

  • Olive oil
  • 500 g cod fillets
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1tsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 1egg, beaten
  • Serve with tartare sauce
  • Serve with freshly squeezed lemon


  1. In a large pan, add oil to about 6 mm depth. Turn the heat on to just below medium and heat the oil.
  2. Rinse the cod fillets and put aside. Stir together the flour, Cajun seasoning, sesame seeds and salt. Place on large flat-bottomed bowl. Put the egg in a second bowl.
  3. Dip each cod fillet in flour, then egg, then flour again. Repeat until all the fillets are coated. Put them into the hot oil. Cook until golden and crispy on both sides. (approx. 10 minutes total).
